Now thecitypulse.com opinion of the new U2 album : “No Line on the Horizon”

As I look into my crystal ball I can see other reviews saying that this album is as boring as the cover art. Well, it’s actually better than that. I have listened to it at least a half dozen times. The first word that “pops” into my head is…adventurous. If you  jumped on the U2 train this decade, you are going to hate it. This is as good and or better than Achtung Baby.  When that came out in 1991, The Fly was the first single. Not very good, but fit into the context of the album that made this band the who they are. That’s what this new release is…AN ALBUM!!!  The first single from “No Line…”  ”Get On Your Boots” falls into that category.

There were plenty of songs from Achtung Baby that were fantastic that never got the regular play that “Mysterious Ways” or “One” received and I still enjoy listening to “Acrobat”, “Love is Blindness”, and the countless others from that album that you don’t hear on the radio, then or now. It will be interesting to see what songs they will play live from this release. Spend some time with this before you judge. There’s no “Vertigo” or “Beautiful Day.” That’s fine with me. If you feel that their albums haven’t been “solid” since “Achtung Baby” and let’s face it some of them haven’t, then you can pick up right where you left off.

They were rumored to play Fenway. That’s not gonna happen…this year. It looks like it could be a couple of shows in September at Gillette.
